| Madame Klanganator | A.M. Pinpoint Salinity Monitor question I picked up a salinity monitor today because my eyes cannot easily read the teeny, tiny lines in my refractometer very well. I want to be sure I'm calibrating and using this thing correctly. Using the included calibration fluid, which is 53.0mS which is = 35ppt = 1.026 = natural seawater... I calibrated the monitor to 53. So, my silly question is; when I use this on my tank, should the monitor also read 53?

| Watch this Ma! | Re: A.M. Pinpoint Salinity Monitor question You got it! I love my pinpoint and I'll never give it up! ![]() Just calibrate it every month. Since the initial calibration, 7 months ago, it's been right on the money everytime. But it sure does give the warm fuzzies to do that. ![]()

| Watch this Ma! | Re: A.M. Pinpoint Salinity Monitor question Robert, once you get a Pinpoint Salinity monitor, you'll put your refract on the shelf and forget about it. Guaranteed!

| Madame Klanganator | Re: A.M. Pinpoint Salinity Monitor question Hi Terry! Thanks for answering again here. I'd posted here before I sent you that PM...then remembered you'd said you were putting the sand in the Monster that evening! I figured this post would be lost in the Post Shuffle, but look at that.. you saw it anyways! Robert! I really like this salinity monitor! The instructions could definitely be clearer, but that might be me because I'm SO new at this whole gig. It's SO much easier than the refractometer. I did compare them to one another at the first go, and the measurements are SPOT ON. I think you'll like it! I'm keeping my refractometer as a good backup "just in case".

| Achilles Tang | Re: A.M. Pinpoint Salinity Monitor question It's much easier - I have one and a nitrate monitor also. Thinking of getting the calcium monitor. Anything that gives me more accurate readings is GOOD!!
