| Madame Klanganator | Re: My new Sump Room Oh! BTW... Great room! I have all my stuff in the basement, too, and it's really nice. I do wonder what's going on down there when I'm not around though.

![]() Oh yeah, another thing we do around here is hijack threads so be prepared to struggle a little bit to get the conversation turned back around. If you need assistance with doing that, PM Sasquatch. He gets LOTS of practice. ![]()

| Golden Moray | Re: My new Sump Room Oh WOW, this is nice! I wish I had that kind of space, and it looks like your putting it to good use. Getting things up off the ground is ideal, it makes everything easy to work with. Not too much bending or back aches....Good job!

| Fire Coral | Re: My new Sump Room
What size tank are you thinking of upgrading too? Im thinking maybe a 240 or maaaayyybe a 300. Still remains to be seen what I will end up with. Either way its going to atleast double of the 120 I have now. And how about water changes? How do you handle that?
Water changes are done via the container next to the sump...I turn on the RODI valve to the brute which has its own float valve, heater, pump for stirring, and airstone. When the can is full I mix the salt and the next morning I do the WC. For draining..I have a line coming off the return (you can see the p-trap up near the ceiling in the pic) that drains into my main line for the house. I just open the drain valve on the return line while watching the sump level. When it drains out about 4" I shut off the valve and then plug in my WC pump in the brute can and fill the sump back up Here is a pic I found showing the valve and drain hookup coming off the return line... ![]()

| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: My new Sump Room Tank room looks SHARP! I hope to plan/build mine in a similar fashion one day. I do have a couple of questions... A) How do you account for all the excess water that's in the pipes which have to be "held" during a power outage or any type of ""Pump Off" situation? I mean I would think the pipe itself would hold a fair amount of water above and beyond what might be "siphoned" during an outage. B) Does the water "Falling" that 12' not get some SERIOUS pressure on it? How do you "buffer/control" this pressure. C)How much noise do you hear IN the basement? I mean it probably doesn't matter but I always equate excess noise to something needing to be "Tweaked". again GREAT looking sump room.

| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: My new Sump Room This pic of yours shows your W/C system ( I think) in some more detail too ![]() and so does this one... ![]() Thanks for sharing with the rest of us I'm taking some notes ![]() I'm afraid I'm gonna NEED them. On a BRIGHTER side my wife "Julie" is THRILLED that I am now thinking about putting all of this in the basement. We re-drew our house-plans so that I had this room on the main level but it was "Encroaching" upon her HUGE walk-in closet. It looks like her closet DREAMS will still be coming true ![]()

Noise is minimal...I can hear the pump running and some water gurgling while im in the room. Upstairs...all I can here is a slight hum from the pump...its by no means "noticable" though. Thanks!
