| Tunicate | Lookin for a quiet pump to run Remora skimmer Hi all, I'm looking for a quiet pump to run my remora skimmer. I have a maxi-jet 1200 which has a pretty loud hum. I checked all the connections again. Are the Eheim 1250 quiet? Any suggestions? Thanks ![]()

| Harlequin Tuskfish | Re: Lookin for a quiet pump to run Remora skimmer Are you sure its actually the pump being loud? I've used MJ's in the past and had no problems with sound. Check this DIY out, it may help you with the sound from your remora: Aqua C Remora Noise Baffle - Nano-Reef.com Forums

| Torch coral | Re: Lookin for a quiet pump to run Remora skimmer Im too lazy to use that info on the link. All I did was take a paper towel and fold it into a rectangle that fits into that same chamber. Works great but needs to be repalced as needed for soggyness. hehe. You will be surpirsed how much this will surpresss the noise because that chamber with the grey nozzle is whats making all the noise. I love my aqua c pro, it does me just fine, never had a problem with it. Takes a few weeks for the micro bubbles to go away. Only thing I dont really like is the maxi jet is grey and doesnt blend in to my black background so if you want order the surface skimmer which is black and will hide the pump.

I ended up going with the paper towel as well! I, too, ended up being too lazy for the other diy. ![]() I bought mine used, yet am still waiting for it to break in. I'm guessing its because of the fact that it was well cleaned and needs to build up that gunk to really start skimming. I got the surface skimmer box as well with it, and it really helps to minimize the bubbles... Its kind of a pain to setup, but I superglued a maxijet suction cup mount to it and it works much better than screwing pins into the pump.
