| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: Protien skimmer What size tank are you looking to skim? Honestly this is one of "Those" places where you don't want to skimp on equipment. If you're going to do it wait and do it right. Get a good one and you'll not regret it... get a bad one you'll regret it and end up replacing it. ![]()

| Midas Blenny | Re: Protien skimmer Thanks for those instant replies!!! Ya I just hate the fact theres nothing less than $100 thats good! I am really nervous buying used! And the reason I want to be cheap about it is my lighting! I have a t5 strip with one white one blue. But there on at same time. So I want to get another strip and put the whites in one and blue in another. So thats $60 there. And this is for a 20 gallon long. Thats why I was wondering if there was something more reasonable priced. |

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: Protien skimmer You may find a used Remora skimmer or BakPak skimmer that would work much better than the useless seaclone. I've never used any of the above, but the Remora is VERY popular. Keep your eye on the used equipment sections online, people will look to unload these when upgrading to larger tanks. You can get by without a skimmer, but in the long run a quality skimmer will definitely help. A poorly designed skimmer is just money wasted though.

| Pistol Shrimp | Re: Protien skimmer Here's a Kent Nautilus TE for 79.99 on ebay. Although I've never used either of these skimmers, I know a guy who has this one and is very happy with it. NAUTILUS TE TURBO EDUCTOR PROTEIN SKIMMER **NIB** - eBay (item 350024107124 end time Mar-10-08 10:04:25 PDT) Much more skimmer for comprable price if you ask me. God bless, disciple

| Limpet | Re: Protien skimmer Still bashing the sea-clones, I ran the 150 after a few easy mods for 5 years and honestly it did more then the turboflotor and whatever the one built into my sump butt combined. Now that I think about it I may put that back in. I don'y remember ever replacing the impeller even. Then again mine is one of the older ones. |

| Plate Coral | Re: Protien skimmer i have to say i run the Seaclone 150 on my 55gal. the only downside ive heard is they are over rated for their skimming capacity. a Seclone 150 is rated alot higher then a 55gal but i think it does a pretty good job on my 55gal. if it was a bigger tank like a 75 gal or more it may not be as good as the Equa C or bakpak. hope that helps any.

| Elegance coral | Re: Protien skimmer I used a seaclone 150 for a short time on a 30 gallon. Not worth spending the money on it IMO. It produced little in the way of skimmate... I just ordered a Remora used for my Oceanic 33, and I'm hoping it works out well. I would look for a Remora, I got mine with the surface skimmer box for 120 shipped.
