Calcium Reactor

I know that I am going to need a Ca. Reactor. I am saving up right now. While saving I am doing some major research. I have found several brands that seem very nice. I just dont know which way to go. Here are the brands I am considering: Life Reef. Korallin. Deltec. and PM.
Which to choose?
I need some first hand experince. Who has which Reactor, and how does it perform. I am looking for a simple setup, easy to maintain system.
Please Help...
~Michael

Re: Calcium Reactor

i have the korallin. its been great for me. at first i did not like it, it kept trapping and collecting CO2, was not working so good. come to find out it did not do such a good job mainly because my tank did not have a great enough demand. now that my tank demands are high the reactor is sweet. all i do now is set it and forget it

Re: Calcium Reactor

I had the Korallin and I hated it. I got rid of it after about 4 months. Difficult to dial in and keep it that way.

I looked at and talked to the owner of the Life Reef, at MACNA, about their Ca reactor and was sold on it. It seemed very user friendly and they have recently redesigned it to be user friendly. As you know I was in the group buy for the Life Reef reactor, but bagged out when the Balling Method came to light. For my application, I think that is going to be all I need. For your monsterous tank, you're going to need more.

Don't know anything about the others.

Re: Calcium Reactor

I have a DIY Ca reactor that is modeled close to a Lifereef but bigger and better IMO. I like it. However, I have seen a few Geo's and their owners couldnt be happier. If I was to get a new one I would go the Geo route. I'm sure Deltec is top of the line too though. The new Aquamedic reactor looks kinda cool too.

Re: Calcium Reactor

Since you hate it so much, why would you try to sell it to me. I will just take it off your hands. That way you no longer have to give it evil looks when you walk past.

Re: Calcium Reactor

Dual Guage CO2 Regulator Deluxe w/ solonoid, 5 lbs CO2 tank. I purchased the package from Marine depot. It was like $600.00! The CO2 tank I got was brand new, but in my area I couldn't find anyone to fill it, I had to trade it in for one that was already filled. Not as pretty as the new one!

Re: Calcium Reactor

i think he was talking to you michail cb 125
there are certain ways to set them. media type is one of the biggest things. with the Korallin being a rapid up flow reactor you need coarse media. like 10-15mm, i use A.R.M. coarse media now (its 10-15mm) you need to set this type reactors drip rate to just past dripping so its flowing-the bubble rate stays low though, mine is set to 25 bubbles with the gtt rate on a steady flow and coarse media work great.

deltec not sure but it a fulidized type reactor and uses a different media, i think you have to use theirs and buy it from them. any rate it uses fine meida.

PM is a slow up flow reactor and uses fine-med media.

the life reef is a down-flow reactor and uses med size media.

in a nut shell, the korallin is the lastest and greatest technology wise.
deltec uses a old but ture technology. not the most effecient but still good. PM is out dated and a fair performer. life reef, just dont know, its oldish technology though.
