My UGGGGLY Overflow

Something had to be done.. So today, I drained the tank 1/2 way, cut out the old overflow, which measured a bulky 6X8X30, and replaced it with a BLACK one, measuring 1.5"X8"X30. It hugs the back of the tank, and looks much better. I also took the opportunity to take advantage of the gained tank space, and did a little aqua-scaping... Although I am not the pro most here on RS are,...

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: My UGGGGLY Overflow

That looks so much better!! Big gain of space dropping from a 6" protrusion to 1.5". I like the new aquascaping too, I really like the two island look versus the single wall of rock.

Built it... 3/8" acrylic. Held together with weld-on, and siliconed to the glass. Same method as the first one,... just much smaller. Oh yeah, those wondering if silicone will hold acrylic to glass, I had to break the old overflow apart to get it out... I almost gave up in fear I was going to break my tank...Thanks for the compliments guys!

Me TOO! When I purchased this tank, I had it in my head the way I wanted the rock to look. It was not possible to get it the way I wanted with the huge overflow in the way. It is a little closer now. I also caught my gorilla crab in the process! two birds with one stone..

Oh heaven's YES it will hold them together! I think the issue of acrylic + glass is potential for placing stress in the middle of a pane of glass and expansion causing a breakage. That's not an issue at all with your arrangement! Silicone will stick just about anything to anything!! Very TACKY stuff and sMELLY too!!
