anyone using sched 80 to plumb their tank?

I am considering doing all of my plumbing in sched 80 and was wondering if anyone here has done so!?!? if so can you post some pics please I was also wondering if anyone knows of any pros or cons to going with this style plumbing, I know it has thicker walls so it can withstand more pressure but is there anything else to it?

Re: anyone using sched 80 to plumb their tank?

Pros: Its grey(if you like grey), its thicker & wont wear out as soon, handle more pressure & less likely to break.

Cons: Its grey(if you dont like grey) The inside dia. is less than the equivalent sch. 40 pipe so it will be more restrictive & the cost is more.

I used sch. 80 fittings just because I had some available. & sch40 pipe.
Sch. 40 pipe & fittings are more than sufficient.

The only sched. 80 I recommend are gate valves.

The thin wall pvc can wear out on you!
note the divit worn into this thin wall. Took about 2 years of vibrating aqainst the stand. The 80 stuff won't wear like that for a Loong time & look good at the same time! LOL

I agree on it being overkill.... use the sch40 and a can of grey krylon fushion

this was poor planning or cutting. sorry, but it was an accident waiting to happen that could have been avoided by a 1/2".

Re: anyone using sched 80 to plumb their tank?

also is that truely wear or some where the PVC material is being compressed more? Are there PVC shavings under that area? I can't see a SPF stud causing that to PVC pipe. I could be wrong but it just looks like compression more than actually eroding it.

Re: anyone using sched 80 to plumb their tank?

I wouldn't poke it with a screw driver! It wasn't so much as plannng but rather poor attention to detail. I must have bumped it out of alignment while working on the return manifold. I didn't take time to carefully inspect the works once in a while. I was lucky this time.
Tiger, How much of the pipe will you need?
