| Madame Klanganator | powerheads for 65g Making my list and checking it twice! How does one decide which powerheads to use, and how many? Barb Here's what I've decided on so far: ASM G2 skimmer for in sump Danner Mag-Drive 9.5 in-sump pump

| Brunt of all Jokes~ | Re: powerheads for 65g depends on a few things, what are you keeping? what are your specific needs and how much you want to part with money wise, IMO the best value ph's are the maxijets but I can't stand the look of exposed ph's so I go closed loop

| Manta Ray | Re: powerheads for 65g Excelent choices for the skimmer and return pump. As far as the PH's go Squatch is right, we need to know what you plan to keep. I don't like to look at powerheads in my tank either so I use closed loop for flow. I use the mag 9.5 with a seaswirl on one loop and a quiet one 3000 (I think) with a squid on the other. If you go PH and have the dough for it I like to Vortech or Tunze because their flow is adjustable, and are less intrusive.

What is entailed in a closed loop system? Can you link me to threads that discuss them? I can't spend a lot on ph's. I looked at the prices for Tunze and I don't want to spend that much.

| Golden Moray | Re: powerheads for 65g I'd look at a pair of Korallia pump #2s. A lot of flow for a bit more cash than maxijets with a wider flow pattern. Don't know if you folks are aware of it but Hydor has realized the problem of the open end of the cage and has added a grid and nose cone to keep critters out when the powerhead id off (great for wavemaker use). |

| Watch this Ma! | Re: powerheads for 65g My new #4 has that attachment which I did install. It really extends the PH into the tank though. You can see it in my chronicle. It's the one in the back. The Vortech is towards the front of my tank for comparision.

| Just Mike for short | Re: powerheads for 65g You can also go with the Maxijet and the Sure-flow mods. They put out alot of flow widely dispersed. I use 2 Maxijet 400s with the mods, one down beack behind the LR and one out in the open in a corner of a 75gl corner tank. Plenty of flow. I also maintain a 240 8' tnak that has a Maxijet 1200 on each end with the mods and the flow is plenty in there also. Growing are some sps, lps, corallimorpharians, leathers and zoanthids. https://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewI...s~vendor~.html
