MH issue

i have a 150watt HQI MH over my smaller 50gal. the bulb that came with the fixture lasted about 7months before it started doing this, i was worried that it might be the ballast not the bulb, but the arc tube didn't look very good so i ended buying a new bulb, about 2months later the new bulb is starting to do the same thing what might be the problem

what happens is when you turn the ballast on the bulb starts but dosent come on it just arc's (spelling) it dosent get any brighter, if you wait it will eventually flash and start to warm up but the amount of time it just arc's is getting longer every day

Have you checked the connections? Especially the ones from the bulb to the socket?

I'm thinking it could be loose or something.

Think mine took 30 secs or so to fire up on a magnetic ballast. I never actually timed it, so might be a little bit longer or shorter

What brand ballast and bulb are you using?
