Giesemann Megachrome Bulbs

I was talking with a pretty reputable LFS yesterday and they were very impressed with the growth and color of their sps under the 250 watt hqi Giesemann Megachrome 14k (might be 13k)bulb. I wasn't able to see these lights because they were over her home tank.

Does anyone have any pictures of your tank under these bulbs?

I've got the aqua medic pendants with the magnetic ballast...will this bulb work with my ballast?

Know a good place to purchase these?

God bless,
Disciple

I just got them, and love them so far!

Premium aquatics has them for $80 where everyone else (marine depot)has them for $117.

November 2007 (Hamilton 250W 10k)

Today... new Giesmann Megachrome 250W 13k

Wow...huge difference there JFK. Thanks for posting! I think I'll do a little research to see if these bulbs will work with my ballast.

Thanks...

Here's the latest FTS... I added the yellow and green Tubinaria where the green frilly mushrooms used to be at the top by the center overflow.

Re: Giesemann Megachrome Bulbs

I talked to premium aquatics yesterday and they said that these bulbs should work with my ballasts. I'll definately be using these bulbs after I move my tank to the front of the house. The pics posted with these bulbs looks like they have a little actinic supplementation to them. Just what I have been looking for.

Thanks and God bless,
Disciple

Is the Premium Aquatics bulb a 12.5 klevin or is that a typo? I thought the bulb was a 13k...

do you use the flash?
is so.. don't! seriously.. find the option to turn it off... and stabilize your camera with a tri pod or a table! whatever... and see if you can up your ISO... the higher the ISO the faster it will take the pic.. but it will take patience to find the right touch for it...

Not really... I never use flash and auto settings, but there is always going to be some variation in digital pics.

The hamilton 10 k bulbs were also around 13 months old, so that also comes in to play. The hamiltons were definitely on the yellow side, if you look through my chronicle before I changed out the bulbs, you will definitely see the yellowish cast on my reef. I remember the hamiltons were more white at first, and progressively shifted in spectrum as time went by.

The Giesemann is officially a 12.5k but is commonly refered to as 13k... same bulb.

Here is my FTS for 12/19/2007... the bulbs have now been burned in.

Re: Giesemann Megachrome Bulbs

I just started using these bulbs Saturday. I'm still acclimating my tank to the hqi's from vho's. I'm looking forward to the more intense colors created by the mh.
