Re: Reef Balls & Reef Cakes

yall are killing Me! ..... I had more stuff posted but it was "pushing the limits" so I backed out.. LOL!!

Matt I think you'll LOVE the Reef Balls. I'm gonna attempt to do a small one as a Zoa Rock type thing and see how that works out. Would be COOL to see one totally covered with Zoas except for the openings.

Re: Reef Balls & Reef Cakes

I bet some nice zoa covered reefballs would be cool. Be better if had hairy mushroom covered reefballs. I think they'd be more natural looking.

Re: Reef Balls & Reef Cakes

Yes I did, 5 as a matter of fact. They look even better in my tank under the T5s.They came with some hitchhikers I had to eradicate though.

BTW, Wit, you can disregard your voicemail.

Haha. What are the sizes? Right now the only place I could even think about putting one would be in the 10g frag tank. I'd be hard-pressed to get any more rock in the reef tank.
Definately looking forward to seeing these guys in action. They'll prolly be great to start a tank with.

Things are going well down in Georgia. Trying not to let grad school kill me, trying not to kill my boyfriend since he moved in and took over half my space. hehe. J/k. Things are going well, and we're looking forward to Christmas.

How have you been?

Re: Reef Balls & Reef Cakes

Sounds like things are GOOD for you Sunnie. Here's what sizes they are..
Reef Balls

Large apprx 5" tall, 8"base diameter 6lbs
Med apprx 3.75" tall, 5"base diameter 2lbs
Small apprx 2" tall, 2 1/2"base diameter 1lbs

Reef Cakes (One AVERAGE size only)
8" to 10" tall, 9" at base, weight about 10 lbs

Small would work great in a smaller tank. I plan on putting a Small and a Medium in my 10g tank.

Re: Reef Balls & Reef Cakes

The reef cakes look kinda funny to me, but the reef balls do look quite unique.
Can you do a vinegar test on them for us Al?
I'm assuming they probably make these similar to the way people make agrocrete or whatever the man made live rock is, but without the pasta and stuff in it to make it porous and rocky looking (although it never comes out looking like natural rock anyhow...)

Sure I can.... What's the "vinegar test"?
