What do you think of this sump set up?

Right now we have a canister filter that is not working very well and is very hard to clean out. I want to add a sump but do not have much time to research and work out a system. Found this one on Ebay and it seems to have everything we need.

300 Gallon Aquarium Sump Refugium NEW - (eBay item 110200008700 end time Dec-05-07 08:06:09 PST)

Our tank is a 92 gallon corner tank that has been running for 1 year. Does this seem like a decent set up? It is made for a 300 gallon tank, would this be too big for our tank? There is also one for a 150 gallon but I figured the bigger the better? Is there anything in the set up that you would recommend upgrading? Would this be a definite improvement from the canister filter and aquaC remora hang on protein skimmer? We would be doing a refugium in the sump, and replacing the bio balls with rock.
Thank you,
Marcie

You could build your own for half that price.

Make your own sump. It's very easy.
Be careful and remove the bio-balls a bit at a time. Otherwise you will have a spike.
Generally the size of the sump depends on the amount of space in the stand or location of the sump.

You can do a lot more for a lot less. I mean honestly if you follow currently accepted reef keeping suggestions you'll be throwing part of that set-up away the moment you open the package. I'm sure you earn you money like the rest of us and don't wish to just throw it away

Good luck, Happy Reefing and you have a PM (2 by mistake)

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: What do you think of this sump set up?

Yes, that is pricy for what you get. Everything there you could get from online stores like Marine depot for half that except the tank which you could buy locally and have drilled. Total cost if I were to get that same eqipment shipped to me and the tank local and drilled would be less than $170 but I, along with most everyone here, probably wouldn't waste money on some of those items.
And you would still need some items like top-off system, plumbing, etc you are still looking at another $100 depending on the top-off system and all.
Build your own. Very easy and plenty of people here to guide you and plenty of DIY sump building pages on the net.
