Re: New sump ???`s

Could you use just vinyl hose? Rig a "U" clamp to keep it in that position? I'm thinking of the way the pipes are run up and over the back from a canister filter...

Re: New sump ???`s

Good idea! Maybe you could use one of those little clear boxes they have at the fish shop that hang on the tank & put small freshwater fish in. What are they called?

Re: New sump ???`s

Good idea ... yes. But I don't have space for one in there. I'm thinking a water bottle. Smart Water would probably work.

Re: New sump ???`s

I'm sure it's just for visual usage but the leg on the outside should be longer then the side in the tank.

Re: New sump ???`s

The return tube is not a perfect circle, more oval, like its been sat on. But it IS consistent all the way, should I give it a hot water bath and try to help it, or will it not affect the performance of the pump?

Re: New sump ???`s

It doesn't change the space inside the pipe so I don't think it matters as long as there aren't any kinks in it. Just my opinion...

Re: New sump ???`s

Got the bulkhead siliconed ( in the hang on chamber ) and the feed tube. May have to add another. To eliminate a pump, I'll feed my skimmer from the feed tube. I got the U tube siliconed into a water bottle too. And I picked up a 2liter jug for dosing.

Re: New sump ???`s

I'll test it Tuesday. Hopefully it will work perfectly and I'll be done. After that I'll work more on th FW, tell myself I don't need anything more for the SW - the hard part will be believing that.

Re: New sump ???`s

Oh man, I hear ya there! Always seems to be something else to help the fragile SW systems out. The poor FW tank (my daughters) tends to get a bit neglected. I DO do water changes on it at least semi-weekly though.

Re: New sump ???`s

I want to redo the lighting, what do you think of 10,000k? and rescape the plants. Then precede with the SW.
