| Tunicate | I Am Setting Up A 92 Gallon Corner Tank And Have A Couple Of Questions About Lighting. I Currently Have A Coralife Compact 4 Tube Linear Strip That Has 1x96watt 50/50 Quad And A Normal Double Strip Light That Accepts Normal Two Prong Bulbs. If I Add A 36" Jebo 192w Power Compact W/ Fans Do You Think It Will be Enough Light To Support Mushrooms, Bulb Anenomes, & Zoanthids? Thanks For The Help!!

| Manta Ray | Re: Lighting Question well not knowing how tall the tank is, i am just geussing, but feel its safe to say, yup that light will work. some zoa's may need more light, maybe, but i think you will be fine. the anemone though is a question mark.

As noted depending on the actual tank depth you may be ok with some zoas and shrooms as they do decent under PC lights. The anemone is a HIGHT light loving animal and needs MUCH more than that. Yes some people "get away" with LOTS of watts of PC lights but in all reality the anemone isn't thriving but surviving. These animals NEED high light to survive and PC's are minimal. I'd look into getting a T-% HO (High Output) light fixture to replace the "Normal Double Strip light" fixture and not add the 36" Jebo light. If you're serious about wanting the anemone you need to go ahead and get a light that will support it. This is all dependent on depth of your tank.. The deeper the water the more light you have to install to PUSH light down into the tank.

| Golden Moray | Re: Lighting Question If you are going to do anemones, your tank must be up established and very stable. Most folks use running for a year as a good rule of thumb. BTAs are a bit more forgiving but I wouldn't try it in less than 8 months unless you really know what you are doing and I wouldn't try it with less than T5 HO lighting and MH would be even better. |

| Tunicate | Re: Lighting Question I am switching all of my LS & LR from a 55gal that I have had as fish only for over 7 years. So it is well established and does not need to cure. My 92 gal is 25" deep. So, I should forget the Jebo and go with something high output? Is there a brand that you suggest? Thanks again for all the info!!

| Manta Ray | Re: Lighting Question retro fit icecap T5's with SLR reflectors or sunlight supply T5's with TEK 2 reflectors or 250w MH-with reefLux 12K bulbs and electronic ballast(best ballast and reflector is up for debate). may need a chiller too, depending on where you are and if you control the temp in the house.

| Has been struck by the ban stick | Re: Lighting Question I wouldn't recommend PC lights for anemones. I don't know why some stores do; it's not only wrong but it's lying. You should really get yourself some T5's if not Metal Halides if you're going to support anemones. As for your shroms and zoas, keep them up on the rock and they should be fine. Corner tanks are...really not recommended and I personally don't encourage it. You just don't get the proper gas-transfer and the tank depths make it very difficult for light to penetrate (even MH's can be difficult to use on these tanks). |
