Since this is my first reef and I've had it for only a couple of months this isn't as applicable for me....but I'll join in anyway.

I'd spend more money on great powerheads and less money on crappy powerheads.

I'd spend more on a bigger tank, better filtration and a dedicated skimmer.

Less on lighting... well let me clarify.. I would buy the RIGHT light fixture from the get go and not trust my LFS to sell me THREE in order to get ONE!!

Well my first SW tank was in the 70's and I was a teenager. Hind site being 20/20 I would spend more money on education and less on liquor!

However, I still support the liquor industry!

DO to I have been in this for so long I would say I would have waited until now to start instead of all the really big headaches of back then. Then again I would not have the knowledge about the hobby that I do.

So I would spend the same amount & the time as well
