What MH fixture is your favorite?

I have used Odyssea and Sunpods but I must say, PFO pendants are great. I have a Mini HQI 150 that I decided to try out after I had tryed getting rid of it because I already had a horizontal 175wt PFO pendant. The 150 has a 150XM HQI 15k bulb in it and the other a 175 XM mogule base 15k bulb, both are new same as both ballasts and the Mini pendant puts off a lot more light than the 175wt.
I like pendant fixtures because I can adjust the height and there is no chance of bumping it if I am messing around in the display.
But, seriously, you wouldn't believe the refletive output of the Mini pendant. It put Sunpods to shame and, even as I stated above, the mogule base horizontal 175wt PFO pendant. I am curious as to how it would compare to a 250wt.
So, what is your favorite and why?

Man you got a lemon, lol, kidding. I did love my Sunpod and also had it pendant. I was always afraid of bumping it as I have big hands and a little cube. You will love that light though. I liked the color of the sunpod bulb. The thing I didn't like was the moonlights wouldn't light the center of the tank> Having on the pendant hangers though I would raise it on evenings I wanted to view the tank so the moonlights shone at the center.

Give me a good reflector and a good bulb and I'll take it from there. I'm into retros.

I did too, till I found this. I like DIY projects, but the corals have been sucking it up and their color has been growing more intense by the day. Evewn my yumas are becoming incredible. I have had one large yuma that has always been yello/brown that is becoming orange with blue background. Some things are meant for DIY, but I am not of that opinion now with lighting.

Re: What MH fixture is your favorite?

You've got a kickin MH set up 15K XM 150w is fantastic in a 20 cube plus you're running it with an electronic ballast. It's just a great combination.

The 10K XM 250w gets fantastic growth too but not the color you'll get with a 15K tube.

I'm just finishing bracing my 210 and hope to have it back up by next weekend. I was running 4 14k 250w Hamiltons on it before I had to take it down and my corals were loving life. I was getting color that I never had before.

It's not the fixture, it's what's in it that counts. Glad your system is doing well. Enjoy your new lighting. Your rics will.

I agree with the type of bulb being what counts. But the Mini pendant does such a great job of reflecting and concentrating the light also. Just perfect for a nano which I believe was the intent of PFO witht he mini pendant.
Sounds like you are getting close to getting a kick a** tank going again. Can't wait to see some pics once it's going again Doc.

Re: What MH fixture is your favorite?

I love Aqua-Medic Fixtures. I have had mine for about 1 year now. It runs cooler than I thought, and has great output.

Re: What MH fixture is your favorite?

It will be better than ever. Three cross braces plus 3" of glass all around the edges. Four 1" bulkheads with strainers on the top back of the tank for overflows. Possibly a manifold return with 4 or 6 outlets. Later I'll supplement my MHs with four 54w T5 actinics with top end individual reflectors.. I think it should work out fine.

I agree, the reflectors make a huge difference.
