| Fire Coral | ozone and asm skimmer Anyone have any pictures or info on how they inject ozone in an ASM skimmer and where to put carbon, etc?

| Over Achiever | Re: ozone and asm skimmer I have a T-fitting in my Venturi intake hose. In this picture the ozone tube is not attached, but I have it plumbed into the intake. ![]() The bag of carbon sits on, or is adapted around, the adjustable output tube where the water is released. Also the small ozonizers units (100mg/hr) that are made for the hobby have little if any risk. I do not have carbon on my out put tube and have had no problems. I can get better pictures when I get home from the office, if you would like to see more. |

| Fire Coral | Re: ozone and asm skimmer Do the hobby units work as advertised? For a 120 gallon with another 40 or so gallons in a sump, I think the 100mg unit is probably a good size, correct?

| Over Achiever | Re: ozone and asm skimmer Yeah, I have an ORP probe and I keep an eye on it. At first I was concerned, but with the little rinky-dink Red Sea 100mg/hr unit I have, I couldn't overdose a glass of water! ![]() Thanks for the offer on the articles, but I've already researched until I'm blue in the face. Besides, it's boring reading. Frankie are you using ozone? |

Yes, the 100mg/hr unit is sufficient for 120 gallons and IMO is safe. | |

| Angel Girl's Daddy ![]() | Re: ozone and asm skimmer Nope. I just don't see the need for it to be honest on a system as small as mine. Its just a total of 197 gallons.

| Fire Coral | Re: ozone and asm skimmer Now the question is where the heck to get a ozone resistant t fitting? I can't find them anywhere.

| Over Achiever | Re: ozone and asm skimmer Yeah, I purchased that fitting at Home Depot. It's probably not ozone safe, but if and when it rots I'll buy another one. As you can see in the picture the ozone tube is inserted into the T-fitting and the Venturi sucks the ozone into the skimmer. I never smell ozone in the room! ![]() |

| Fire Coral | Re: ozone and asm skimmer How do I ensure I don't have ozone spilling into the air. I think I may by smell. I have carbon over the outlet and top of the skimmer. The only thing I can think of is I have the air pump too high....but even that doesn't make sense.

| Fire Coral | Re: ozone and asm skimmer Ok, changed it. How much airline from the generator to the T do you have? Do you have a check anywhere in the setup (I don't).

| Midas Blenny | Re: ozone and asm skimmer just an FYI for people considering using ozone. all water thats exiting whatever you choose to use as a reactor(skimmer, O3 reactor) should be actively treated with GAC (carbon).the carbon treatment isnt intended to remove excess O3 but product's of O3 reaction with bromide. bromide is a common element in sea water, salt mix's and calcium additives. O3+bromide can/will create hypobromite, bromate, bromine (bromine is just like bleach) Ozone and the Reef Aquarium, Part 1: Chemistry and Biochemistry by Randy Holmes-Farley - Reefkeeping.com
