Anyone try the Maxi-jet mod sold here?

Maxi-Jet Sure Flow 1600 Kit - FinsDepot.com

I think it looks like it might be a good thing, but haven't really heard any reviews on it.

No but from the looks of it they are trying to make a Korallia out of it.

I haven't tried it but that's a "cleaner" version than the one I saw on another site. I'd be willing to give it a try if I had the pump. I'm seriously looking into some Korolias.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Anyone try the Maxi-jet mod sold here?

These are from the maxijet mods that actually came to be before the korolias. The only thing I don't much care for with the korolias is their large size. I guess they got the kinks worked out with the recall they had a short time back.
I think I am going to order a couple of these. The woman whose 240 I take care of gave me her 75gl corner tank so I am oin the process of getting it ready to reef in. I was thinking a couple of these with the 1200s that I already have, a fuge run off of a Quiet One 3000 should be enough current.
The tank has 7 1" holes drilled in the bottom so I have plenty of options with it. There is an acrylic Aqua Clear sump with it and I have a couple different Magnum canister filters plus plenty of lighting I think. A 175 and 150 MH and 96wt PC, 2x24wt PC plus Emperor 400 HOB filter, Jebo 9wt UV, lots of Maxijets of different sizes, Seaclone 150 and other odds and ends.
Should be enough I would think. I would like a 'clean look' to the tank. Here is a pic when I set it up and maintained it for her before the 240. I resiliconed in black and repainted the backs in black.

Looks good buddy. Keep us posted.

I really do like the idea of those MJ mods kits. I may give that a whirl here in my 10g for added in tank flow.

I think it said they produce about 1600gph flow. Might be a bit too much for a 10gl.

Re: Anyone try the Maxi-jet mod sold here?

I can't see the 106gph producing those kind of #'s. That one mod kit Works with Maxi-jet 400, 600, 900 & 1200.
Produces up to 1600 gallons per hour. Now I guess it's possible the 1200 (295gph) could put out that much (hard to phathom that personally) but the 106gph just doesn't even seem feasible. If you take the #'s and factor in the most upgrade on the 1200 (295gph up to 1600gph) gives you an increase of 542+%. Now incorporate that into the 106gph and it comes in around 575gph+/- which shouldn't be too over kill for a 10g.

Sound about right?

Re: Anyone try the Maxi-jet mod sold here?

If you search... RC has DIY instructions for this conversion. Although, if you could get this for $20, I'd say thats the way to go. DIY looks like a 4 hour project!

Yeah I started to attempt the DIY but for $20 it's just about a no brainer unless you can't FIND the kit

Re: Anyone try the Maxi-jet mod sold here?

Yea, I was going to get a couple and now sold out. Maybe soon they will have some more. I checked on the Algaefree web site, the makers of the kit, but they don't seem to offer them for sale.
