| Neon dottyback | Re: lighting reccomendations? i have power filters,skimmers, and liverock in my 20 gallon. i use i instant ocean and real ocean water from petco. i am still on the hunt for equipment for my 55 gallon.may i ask how long you've been in the hobby.

| Neon dottyback | Re: lighting reccomendations? the lighting reccomendations are for the 55gallon. also i have a condy anemone in the 20 gallon and it's doing fne.i haven't even filled my 55 gallon yet. iw ill not be getting fish or invertebrates till it's established now i am planning and getting equipment.my 20 gallon is fully established.

| Midas Blenny | Re: lighting reccomendations? If you want to run a really successful reef you will need a refugium as filtration and a powerful protein skimmer. Anemones as you know can't handle nitrates and a refugium with mangroves and macro algae will keep nitrates in between 0-0.025 (You are gonna have really high maintenance if you only use a power filter). Make sure you have a lot of live sand and live rock. (Remember with a reef tank the faster you go, the harder you crash) How long have u been in the hobby? |

| Neon dottyback | Re: lighting reccomendations? i think i will get VHO's Aquadirect :: Lighting :: VHO Fluorescent :: ARO VHO Retros :: ARO 46.5" 4 Lamp VHO Retro Kit i will put this retrofit in a canopy. any good diy self threads? i've heard the vho's should be intense enough for hard corals and anemones.
