Phosban reactor

Can I use a phosban reactor inline with my chiller? Got a better place for it?

Re: Phosban reactor

I would place the phosban reactor separate from the chiller. The cooler temp wouldn't bother the phosban media however the flow rate would be a factor. Phosban media needs a very slow flow rate to keep it from grinding together and turning into powder.

I have mine hanging on the inside of my sump (with the reactor underwater about 8"). It is powered by a mini-jet 606 and is toggled down to reduce the flow rate.

Re: Phosban reactor

Yeah, if you have the flow too high, it leaks out of the O ring as well (as I discovered last night.) I have mine hanging off the side of my sump with it's own little Rio 600 with a gate valve adjuster to slow the flow.

Re: Phosban reactor

I was thinking of inline on the way to the chiller. I have a 1/15 chiller running on a mj900.

Re: Phosban reactor

even the mj900 is to powerful you want about 100gph or less

Re: Phosban reactor

I thought about doing the same thing also, however using a "T" off the main feed pump for my chiller & future phosban reactor & calcium reactor. I was thinking about valves to limit the flow & using one big pump. If i dial the flow in right i dont think the pressure should be a problem.

Re: Phosban reactor

If you are running a UV that has very low flow you can tap into the output of that & save a pump

Re: Phosban reactor

hmmm thats a good idea. I currently dont have a uv, but thought i would get a panworld external and adjust the flow down with a couple of ball valves & use those inline flowmeters temporarily to verify the flow rates to a calcium reactor and a phosban reactor. Pressure shouldnt be an issue since pumps only generate approx 10 psi & everything we work with is rated for 250
