| Plate Coral | I just got my new RO/DI set up and running so now that I have it I need to get some containers suitable for the storage of deionized water. From what I understand it leaches ions from some plastic containers which contaminates the water. I’ve been searching and found that Rubbermaid stamps a number that indicates which type of material the container is made of in a triangle on the bottom of the container. Apparently (please correct me if I’m wrong) it is necessary to use a #2 or #1 stamped material. I have two questions: 1) I’m aware that the Rubbermaid Brute trash cans are acceptable for housing DI water but I was hoping to find something a bit less deep with more surface area like the 30-40gal rectangular/cube Rubbermaid storage containers many of us store holiday decorations and garage stuff in. Does anyone know of any that are made out of the #1 or #2 plastic? If so, where can they be bought? 2) How quickly does this leaching of ions from low grade plastic (or whatever exactly happens) occur? I ask because I wonder if it’s safe to carry the water around in empty salt mix or other 5 gallon buckets from the Brute storage container to the tank for top-off. I would imagine it is safe to carry the pre-mixed salt water because the RO/DI can more easily pick up ions from the salt mix, right? HERE'S MY CORRECTION Refering to question 2, I just bothered to look at the 5 gallon buckets and both the IO salt mix bucket and the Home Depot bucket have a 2 in a triangle stamped on them. I guess this means they are safe right. Thanks for any help you can offer. Justin

| Plate Coral | Re: RO/DI storage container questions I ended up with a 32 gal brute like many others have. Seems decent so far.
