Pluming Question

Do they make something like a check valve for pvc, or something that would limit the flow of water to only one direction? The application would be for placement after the pump , to eliminate back flow from the tank into sump in case of a loss of power. This would be on a 29 gallon tank, btw. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Re: Pluming Question

They have them at the hardware store and at some fish stores. They are over with all of the PVC stuff. They have some on/off valves you could put inline too. You could close them to do water change in the sump and also use them to control flow.

Re: Pluming Question

do you have a hole drilled in the return pipe at the water level? this will break the siphon if thats what you are after. Check valves in that application cant be trusted because they easily get stuck slightly open.

Ditto to this. I really really don't trust check vlaves. You can purchase clear check valves with cleanouts on them but if I remember correctly they aren't cheap. You also are going to be restricting flow from your pump by using them.
