Design me a sump/fug combo

Hey everyone i have a question well when i got into this hobby i started with a 55 gallon no sump and then within a year i moved and with that i moved to a bigger tank a 110 but i was still pretty new to the hobby and very unexperienced and i let the lfs owner talk me into a wet dry for my reef tank ( i dont know what i was thinking) now after about 4 years or so and a lot of new additions and a few more upgrades i would like i am completely out of room with the wet dry i would like to take out the wet dry and diy a sump for under my tank. SO what i need help with is a design for the sump. I have a guy who could cut out all the peices and i would just have to assemble them. The demensions of under the tank are 46 inches long, 22 inches deep and 23 inches roughly high. the opening for the door is 21 inches high and 15 inches wide. The spacer in the center is 51/2 inches wide. i am not sure if the center brace can be removed or not but i had to get the wet dry in from the top before i put the tank on the stand. I would be greatly appreciative for any help Thanks for your help in advance. Thanks you

Re: Design me a sump/fug combo

Check out Melevsreef.com | Acrylic Sumps & Refugiums for some great ideas/info on sumps. He uses acrylic but a glass tank can easily be converted to a sump.
Do you still have the 55g tank. You could make that into your sump.

you can also google, "sump design"
good luck!

Re: Design me a sump/fug combo

I'm not good at sumps and whatnot, but when you remove the bio-balls do it slowly. If you take them all out at once it will start a cycle. I removed mine a couple of handfulls at a time when I did a water change. This allows your LR to get up to speed for the new load.
