| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | RO H2O system... Background information Ok it's apparent I am going to need an RO(maybe RO/DI) system soon. I only have a 10g tank at home and a 12g at work. I do around 2 gallons each per week not including top-off fresh water. I plan on getting a 75g tank within the next year at the most which would mean a 15g W/C once every week or sonot including top-off water. I figure worst case I would need24 gallons per week of fresh water for WC and top-off. I have very limited space under our kitchen cabinet/sink area for anything very large and obtrusive in the way of holding tanks etc. It's a rental home that we will be in for approximately 3-5 years and when I build our new home the RO/DI system will be designed and built with the home. My question is many fold.... can I get away with an R/O system only? Can I add a DI unit later if it's needed? What's the most economical system I can buy (only need about 5g per day)? Is this a DIY install system or does it need a plumber? Allen

| Plate Coral | Re: RO H2O system... Hey there. It seems you and I are looking for the same thing. I've started a poll you may want to keep an eye on. Buying the Best RO/DI (help put all the info in 1 place) I know that there are systems out there which allow you to add DI later if necessary. Also, as far as I understand, most units are about the same size so brand shouldn't make too much difference. I think you will get into larger sized units as you increase the number of stages you choose to buy with your filter. Many people on this site seem to like filter guys as a source for ro/di units because they are reasonably priced and can work with you to get you the system that will meet your needs. You may want to have a chat with them. HTH
