i dont need this kind of light, but why couldnt you buy a metal halide bulb from an aquarium store and put it in a clamp on light over the tank, wont it do the same thing?

OMG, DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! MH bulbs require a lot of energy and a transformer to convert the electrical signal. It is not advisable to hook up a MH bulb to any other fixture than the one it is intended for. Electrocution, fire and/or death are sure to follow!
