| Tuxedo Urchin | Acan/duncan anyone who has acan corals. Are they a rapid growing coral. Similar to zoas or like a mushroom that just grow when it feels like it. I know it has to do with what type of light and water quality and ect. but lets say that it is excellant lighting and great water quality. Also kind of wandering the same ?'s on Aussie duncan corals????? really want to get some frags of these but i am not sure if it is going to be worth it if it takes years to get it to start to cultivate. iam patient but not years and years. i plan on keeping them for years but just wandering if the frags will grow....... |

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | Re: Acan/duncan Keep in mind we are talking about stony corals here. I consider them slow growers, but that is a realtive term ![]() Compared to mushrooms, zoos, etc. they grow slowly. They grow about the same rate as Brain corals, "candy canes" etc. And of course everyone will get different results. Some tanks get very fast growth, others see slower growth.

| Tuxedo Urchin | Re: Acan/duncan well mike since its a stony coral i think iam going to need metal halides. I have power compacts now and not many corals (shrooms, candycane, polyps, toadstool leather). so it is either buy metal haides or buy acans. i think iam going to go the road of the metal halides and wait another day for my acans. I believe more light is going to bring more growth. If i buy th metal halides i believe that it is going to wipe the budget out for awhile. Thanks for the tip couldnt get the link to work but at least i know its a stony coral. Thanks |

| Harlequin Tuskfish | Re: Acan/duncan How many watts of pc's do you have and over how tall of a tank? At a decent amount of wattage, PC's can easily sustain LPS coral (such as acans). You don't need MH's for the care of them, although you will see better growth with a more high output light
