Re: aquatraders.com

I have heard lots of negative feed back from that online distributor. I heard their name should be AquaTraitors.com But that is just what I have read.... I've never ordered from them...

Re: aquatraders.com

It's possible that it's cheaply made! I don't have 1st hand experience but many times if something looks out of ordinary there are issues. If you sit back and think about it... they probably are cutting corners somewhere in order to be able to sell things so much cheaper. All factors being equal otherwise, the components would have to be cheaper one way or another. Remember vendors do have to make SOME profit in order to b e able to continue selling items. Once in a while you may find and AWESOME deal because of someone's misfortune or even a mistake on Ebay (typo or something by the owner) but to be consistently so much LESS on everything throws up ALL kinds of red flags for me. Look into their customer feedback if you can find it and see what people who HAVE dealt with them have to say.

Good luck!!

Allen

When in doubt... wait it out. This means take it slow and let the tank "develop" and don't rush it. Time is your friend

Not really. VERY cheaply built. There were several reports of their lighting catching fire for a while. HOPEFULLY they resolved those problems...

Re: aquatraders.com

They basically sell Odyssea products. They don't make them, just sell them here in the US. Odyssea is made in China, like about everything else these days.
I have several Odyssea products and personally have never had a problem with any of them. I bought an Odyssea 250wt MH unit that had built in 2x24wt actinic PC, moonlights and fans. All the ballasts were electronic. It was a great light. I had it hanging with the included pendant kit. I believe I paid $169 shipped. I have a bad habit of having to know how everything worksd and taking it apart to see. I completely dissasembled the unit and it was actually pretty well made, especially for the price. Never gave me any trouble and ran cool. I did sell it to a local buddy of mine as 250wt was too much for my ric tank and he has sps. It is still working today as far as I know with no problems. Odyssea did aquire a bad reputation when they first started, but I believe they have started producing higher quality products to stay in the market. One of the LRS stocks about any Odyssea light, tank or whatever you may want and if they don't have it they can get it usually the next week.
My 20cube is Odyssea. Going since last Aug.
