| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Sump vs. wet/dry Take a look as some of the plans and then ask questions on what you see. Really a sump is just an empty tank with baffles and equipment. Some have a section that is used as a refugium. Some do not. They pretty much all have a skimmer section and a return secion with baffles inbetween. Most use three baffles together to reduce microbubbles. You can use either glas or acrylic but it is recommended to stay with the same material. So if you get a glass tanks you should use glass baffles and adhere with 100% silicone. If you get an acrylic tank then use acrylic baffles and secure them with weldon. Hope that helps.

| Achilles Tang | Re: Sump vs. wet/dry I'll take a look and see what I can find. I think the whole concept is just too intimidating for my hubby so he'd rather have someone else do it. Don't tell him that though!!! We'll deffinitely take a look and see what's on there!! Thanks!!

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: Sump vs. wet/dry Rebekah I know it can look intimidating but it really isn't, this one is mine made by Oceanic all I did was go to a glass shop and cut a small piece of glass {baffle} and silicone to seperate the pump for the return. ![]()

| Scopas Tang | Re: Sump vs. wet/dry If you decide to go with the sump or wetdry, don't get rid of that HOB, it makes a great mech filter or chem filter, simpy place floss in there and/or carbon or phosremover, then clean it at least once a week, you will be surprised how much crap it takes out of the water....

| Achilles Tang | Re: Sump vs. wet/dry Cheeks-thanks, that looks simple enough!! Raf-my hubby actually wants to keep it on the display. I want him to out it on the QT tank because I think it's an eyesore. Looks like he might win this one knowing that keeping it can be beneficial though. Thanks!

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | Re: Sump vs. wet/dry I didn't even have baffles in my sump. The baffles are really there to help isolate the return pump and minimize microbubbles.
