It will actually be better on your f/w tank than it would have been on s/w. They make far too many nitrates for reef tank use...

How do i go about this? should i just take it from the saltwater and insert to the freshwater biowheel filter? or should i give it a rinse? or anything else?

I would rinse it out and change the wheel / carbon or whatever media you use. Basically start out new

i wouldnt even rinse it. a little salt is actually recommended for most freshwater setups. i doubt much of the bacteria in the wheel will survive though.

I misunderstood your original question. I thought you wanted to use the entire filter...
Yes, you CAN use the bio-wheel from your salt tank on your freshwater tank, but you really won't gain anything by it...
