lighting

i think i am going to be ordering some halimeda cactus algae and i was wondering how long i should leave my basic lights on for. its a fowlr set up so i just have 15 watt flour. bulbs.

Halimeda requires calcium as well as light so you'll need to keep the calcium, alkalinity levels up. I am not sure if the 15 watt flour bulb will be suficient lighting for it.

o. i read somewhere that halimeda is one of the few macro that can survive on low light.

they are a medium light plant... that like to grow in sand... but like Woodstock said, Calc and Alk are important... and also very low nitrates and phosphates... Good Luck and keep us posted...

I think that is really up to you. Personally I would go with 10-12 hrs a day.
