i love the spread of that... but it will cut down the space for adding Actinic supplements... because the reflectors are 16" one way and 13" the other... depends on how many T5s u wanna fire up! with the 13" plus 4 T5s (10") that will be 23" and your tank is 24"... if you go 16" you can go with just 2 T5s..

Just measured... I only have 17.5" front to back to work with...

use a tier method,,,,halide high up with the actinics on blocks running underneath. a pit of a pita to change MH bulbs but doable.

if i recall correctly Teri (reeflady) had her MH/VHO set up like that on her 180

Only bad thing there is... for T5s to be used at their best.. They should be cooled! but if you have a MH beating down on top of them, they will only last like 4-6 months instead of 2 yrs with regular cooling...

Are two 96 watt PC the same strength as two 48" T5's?

the par you will get from the T5s will be higher than the PCs... But wattage wise less.... PCs as a reef lamp stink! They have parallel with each other and can't release all the light on the inside of each other... Does that answer for you?

Yes, thanks Billy! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't reducing PAR. I (and my corals/anemones) are very happy with the current set up(2x 250 mh & 2x96 PC) so I will just get the two T5's and two MH. Plenty of room for those under the canopy.

..do you mean get 4 shorter t5's and place the MH perpindicular?

Humm... I think I would rather have 2 48" bulbs.
