| Tubeworm | 40 gallon reef lighting I have a new reef with a single power-glo light. It has blue l.e.d. moon-glow night lighting. Do I need more light for day? For proper algae growth? Thanks! Addtional Info. 40 gal. tank 20 watt power -glo flourescent live rock at this time may intro some live coral at some time if no confliction with angelfish. Thanks again! What are you going to put in your tank. Is it going to be a fish only(FO), fish only with live rock(FOWLR), or are you going to want corals(reef). And if a reef do you want softies, sps, or lps?

| Tunicate | Re: 40 gallon reef lighting howdy, being that the title of the thread says "reef lighting" and your description says "single power-glo light", my guess would be that you probably need more lighting. i'm not overly familiar with the power glo lights, but the only ones that i've seen are the normal output flourescent. honestly, that's not going to cut it for most reef inhabitants. |

| Tubeworm | Re: 40 gallon reef lighting O.K., Sorry, Here goes more info. 40 gallons. I have live rock in the tank now. The light is a 20w power glo 24" flourescent. I haven't decided on any soft coral at this time. Still studying compatibility with angelfish. |

| Sunshine Reefer | Re: 40 gallon reef lighting Not enough light for corals but should be fine for the LR and fish. I don't think that is even enough light for softies, but you could try some mushrooms, xenia, or zoanthids. Those are some of the low light corals that might be possible. Really if you want corals you are going to have to add more light to keep most of them. Fish though should not be a problem.
