| Elegance coral | overflow intake box ok, i asked this question as part of a larger post, but its pretty important so im making a post just for it. sry if im posting all over the place! ok my overflow came in and i got it going. part of the 'balance' (between overflow, return pump, water levels... preventing floods) involves adjusting the height of the overflow. if the overflow is higher up, it takes in less water, but it skims the surface water. if the overflow is lower down, it takes in tons of water, but the surface starts to develop a film since it is not being skimmed. i emailed the guy on ebay whom i bought it from and he said something along the lines of the intake is not a surface skimmer.... arent all overflow intakes surface skimmers? isnt that the point? so any ideas of how i can make this box suck in the surface protein (since the protein skimmer is in the sump anyways) while still maintaining good flow? am i gonna have to break out the dremel and cut some teeth into it?

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: overflow intake box A proper overflow has teeth. The teeth allow for large amounts of water to enter and at the same time, skim the water's surface.
