I havent done this, but I suppose you could use 3/4 PVC ran about 2" or so below the surface of the water & parallel with it and just drill 3/8 or 5/16 holes in the plane that you want the spray to be. Makes sense to me.

ReefGeek is right except I would recommend much smaller holes, somewhere around 1/8th" so that it generates a long stream of small outlets rather than a major flow. The idea is to spread it out into multiple ports.

I guess what I was looking for is how large are your dill holes, how far apart are your holes, how long is your pipe, do you just dill a straight line of holes or stager the holes. I guess I am just looking for some input.

There are no hard and fast rules to making a spray bar. What do you want to accomplish. The angle of the holes are dependent upon how you want the water to flow. Downward to move detritus forward from behind the rocks, upward to oxygenate. Its really dependent upon your tank and the available space vs. needs.

For lenght, again dependent upon your tank. Mine is in the middle 2/3rds of the tank angled up to move surface water.

Use a 1/8" or 5/64th" drill bit spaced about 1-1 1/2" apart and be sure to use 1/2" PVC or CPVC (better) for your material.

You can also use 1/2" loc-line or modular pipe that is made with side nozzles. I know both marine depot and champion lighting sell this product. It is more expensive but adds some flexibility in being able to set some of the nozzles at different angles and being able to curve the bar if you want.

also i have heard people using powerheads that have a revers motion so it pulls waterh through and connect pvc pipe to it... orwould you recomend using a seperate pump

Ok, all, here is what I did.
I used 3/4" PVC, and 3/16" holes every 1 1/4" apart.
Here is a drawing of the setup that I ran.
You will see a 3/4" x 3/4" slip connector that is in the tank. I Did Not glue it. That way I could rotate the actual spray bar, to achieve the flow pattern that I wanted.
