Treasure chest 110G DIY tank

I was bored today and started thinking about my (possibly next) dream tank. Well, actually my dream tank is 2000 gallons but for the sake of practicality I'm going to limit it to 100, for now.

I have seen the huge built in tanks with the really nice woodwork and canopy that goes to the ceiling, sorta looks like a china cabinet... I drool when I see them. But still, I was thinking about a tank that looks like a treasure chest. I would like to ask the experts out there what would one use to seal marine plywood to hold saltwater for many many years. Marine paint? Acrylic? Is there a pvc paint available?

My idea is to make the main part of the tank out of two thicknesses of 3/4 plywood. A box in a box so to speak. Stagger the corners so the joint is very strong and have a pane of 3/8 or 7/16 plate glass in the front for viewing. The picture I made doesn't show the inside box very well, but it would be colored blue. The canopy would have the T5s up inside it with vents and fans as required. I haven't seen any wood tanks in my travels around the saltwater community ( at least 10 boards ) so I'm wondering if it would be way too much trouble or would it allow me to get into a 100G for under $200?
It sux having big ideas and no money to make them happen.

Anyone interested in building this I have CAD drawings ( 3 views + 3D + sheet layout) that I'll send out in whatever format you may need ( gif, jpg, dwg, dxf tiff, pcx, tga... you get the picture). Just email me and I'll zip them up for you.

Have you thought of using a standard tank and building a plywood box minus the viewing side and top for it to sit in? That way, it would almost appear to be constructed out of wood but have all the advantages of glass/acrylic.

Sounds cool...

No I didn't think of that but I may do that with my 55 once I get rolling.
