Re: fans...need help..

I have two computer fans blowing over my tank now. All you need is a DC power supply with enough power. I believe that the fans I have draw 200 mili amps and are running on a 1000 mili amp dc power supply. Depending on the requirements of the fans, an old cell phone charger might work.

God bless,
Disciple

Re: fans...need help..

If they are true computer fans, you'd need a power supply/converter, to plug them in and use them. If they are AC fans, you can splice them into a standard plug from an extension cord.

Re: fans...need help..

I get simple AC cabinet fans from Radio Shack for like 10 bucks a piece and splice them into power cords.

Re: fans...need help..

This is what I have running from a standard DC power supply :

I spliced the wires from the fan to the dc power supply. You could also get a computer power supply but I went the cheap route.

God bless,
Disciple

Re: fans...need help..

Best bet is to have one installed to pull air into the canopy, and have the other installed to blow air out of the canopy.

Can't help you with DC. I use AC.. plug and play Maybe someone else will chime in.

It doesn't...it's either on or off. I do believe however that you can get transformers that allow you to adjust the output which in turn would adjust the speed of the fan. If you purchased a temperature controller you could hook it up to the fans so they would turn on/off at desired temp.

God bless,
Disciple

I went to radio shack for the transformer. I bought a 1000 mili amp ac/dc transformer that would run five 200 mili amp fans. It's just a larger version of your cell phone chargers.

Here's a controller:
