Yeah I think I am going to start a new tank fund. I don't know when this will come about but probably over the summer and into the fall.

thanks

i just set up a cube tank to get the bubble tips out of the 90 gallon. its 24 x 24 x 24, and 1/2" glass. I have it tied into my prop tank. they are cool little tanks. I am using a diy 150 watt 10K HQI.
If you do build the tank using acrylic go with a cell cast sheet, not extruded (i would use 1/2", thats just me though i guess )

Hey George!
It's great to see you on ReefSanctuary!
Speaking on behalf of our community, it's great to have folks like you visit our boards and put in your opinions.

I was hoping to meet you at the All-Ohio frag swap last weekend, but it was a bit more succesful than I had anticipated, keeping me busy most of the afternoon

Welcome aboard!

Cos

I would recommend 1/2" acrylic at a minimum for any tank 24" or larger... 3/8" may 'work', but it'll also flex quite a bit, giving the 'fisheye' effect when you look at the tank.
I had my 36"x36"x24" cube made from 3/4" acrylic to prevent this.
I also recommend using cell-cast acrylic... IIRC it doesn't absorb as much water as extruded, and it's also stronger.

Just to add, cell cast also handles stresses much better than extruded, ie., extruded will craze long before cast as it . Crazing *can* (if bad enough) lead to material failure.

i think coverage area for most MH is considered to be 24" only...so for a 36" tank you may want to consider 2. or keep low light stuff around the edges.
