| Brunt of all Jokes~ | Re: Skimmer Build # 317 LOL Booze, your always getting me in trouble, I finished up the 6' monster 3 weeks ago and am sad to say OOOPS! its to big, turned it way down because ive really overskimmed the tank, so with no reason to run the big pump and beckett I want to try a nw borrowing some of that BK stylizing. Built the form at work from 1/4'' aluminum for the lock rings and a half inch bolt to draw down the centre, in the oven at 325 for 10 minutes, put the 3 '' disk on and slowly turn it down, reheated for a couple of minutes and tighten some more until it bottomed out, really amazing how mold able acrylic is, might be a new hobby! |

| Fire Coral | Re: Skimmer Build # 317 Hey Great job, that took some real ingenuity. I was curious, what size hole did you need in your lock ring to make the OD 8 1/2". I have been contemplating my own DIY skimmer (Euro-Reef RS500 knock off). That conical shape is what I have been trying to figure out and yet you have the answer right here My plan is for an 8" mixing chamber, so how big do I need to make the hole in the lock ring? Your help would be greatly appreciated. |

| Brunt of all Jokes~ | Re: Skimmer Build # 317 I needed an 8.5''start for the cone, so I started with a 9'' disc, the acrylic is held between the two aluminum rings which are 8.5'' i.d. this left me with a 1/4'' flange all around the cone, if you body is 8''od make the rings 8'' and trim to fit |

| The CodFather ~ | Re: Skimmer Build # 317 Ok special agent 'Squatchy', now that you have proven yourself in the field, this is your next asignment.... Included in this specially coded envelope are detailed pictures of the soon to be released Bubble King SuperMarine skimmer.(many agents risked their lives for these) ... Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to duplicate this design faster than Klaus can say ''patent infringement lawyer''...I have faith in your abilities...the skimmerpeople await ! this message will self destruct in 3.....2.....1....
