By the way, many of your critters cannot see red light, so you can use this to your advantage... let's say you have an unidentified predator in your tank, you see?

I would recommend to put a series resistor to the LEDs; in cause any spike in voltage won't kill the LEDs.

Just ordered 100 Pcs 5mm Red Blue Green Yellow White Amber LED Light - eBay (item 110383173587 end time Jun-27-09 08:35:58 PDT) to give this a try.
