It came to gether really well. Its a 10 gallon. Total cost was about 30 bucks.

Thats cool, good job! What kind of skimmer are you using? I'm thinking about setting up something similar for my 50. What size tank is that on?

Its on a 29, the skimmer is a prizm.
I am thinking about making my own skimmer just cause I want to, maybe sometime in February when I have time again.

good job! I'm new to the hobby, I was trying to convert my 100 gallon FW into reef tank. I didn't know it's going to take this much work and a whole bunch of new equipment. I just found out that my wet/dry filter is not good for reef. Keep in mind that I'm new to the hobby and I don't really know anything about it yet. So far the equipments I have is prizm skimmer (like the pic above), retro light (2x 250 MH and 2x 48" VHO) from cool touch, 500 watt titanium heater and a couple of pumps and I think I would need to make a sump, if so what size. Please help!

And BTW I'm getting my tank drill for inside overflow. Is that a good idea?

I think that's a great idea. Should have to worry about hang on overflow failing. I just picked up my 120gal to replace my 90 gal and had 7 holes drilled in it.
I will be drilling my 90 after I get done setting up the 120, for FO tank. In my Opinion I believe that is the only way to go if you can.

The more I learn about having a reef, the more I realize DIY is more to it than it looks but having help from people like above is a big plus. I find that more of my set-up at first I thought I would have to buy and pay millions but now I know almost everything I'd rather build myself, if you want it right LOL!
It its so true after getting all the help for guys like Pro and others, and aactually doing it and saying man I was stupid paying so much for stuff I don't need or want.

Great job, that sump design is almost the exact same as mine, simple but very effective. Mine is 30g BTW

That looks good. I am using a temporary setup in a plastic tub right now since my 30 gallon tank that I was using for a sump cracked a few weeks back. I am still waiting to come across another steal in the recycler for another one.

My last silicone job was not nearly as pretty as yours though. Thank goodness it was hidden under the stand. You gave me some ideas for when I put together another semi professional sump again though.

BTW hello to another Fellow OC reefer.
