Re: Working with Acrylics....

Well there is solvent/glue that will affix the plastic bulkhead to the outside without another peice on the inside, but I imagine it doesn't have as strong as a bond as having a 2 peice bulkhead.

Re: Working with Acrylics....

ya but there is not alot of pressure in a skimmer mostly just flow threw so i'm open to all options at this point.
I tried silicone, didn't work and also tried loctite sumo didn't work either so next step maybe a two part weldon product just not sure. but like i said waiting for frankie's reply I know he has done it just don't know if he took it apart are if it was done from the outside. thought maybe somebody else has experienced this delema

Weld on 40 I think is what most people use to do acrylic/plastic fitting.

Frankie is definitely the one you need to talk to about this stuff. I was told to use Weldon #4 to repair broken acrylic, thats about as far as my help goes...haha

Re: Working with Acrylics....

I think I know now how I can do this. I need to cut a hole bigger then my bulk head in the sealed compartment and add a piece of acrylic with bulk head installed to the outside with weldon 16 witch sould fuse the to together to make a waterproof seal. will let all know what the outcome is shortly

Re: Working with Acrylics....

this method of installing a bulkhead into a sealed compartment worked like a charm. Acrylic is so user friendly.
