The bottom of the stand showing where the weep hole is.

I built a water tight bottom panel that tips toward the weep hole on the inside so if there is a leak in the cabinet water will flow out the weep hole and not get trapped under the stand and cause damage.

Close up of weep hole. Tubing to make it look neat.

Re: The automatic fish tank.

The overflow is a T fitting with the middle of the T threaded to accept the fitting through the tank. I originally made just an elbow but decided to ad and undergravel filter ala garf's bullet proof reef system.

The bottom of the T goes to the undergravel so there is no need for an air stone or powerhead to draw water through the undergravel filter.

Fittings fitting fittings.

BTW the undergravel filter is pvc with eggcrate over top and a layer of fiberglass window screen on top zip tied together.

PS. note the airline tubing is inserted in a hole drilled into the elbow to quiet the system.

Close up of undergravel filter meeting the overflow tube. To keep the screen from collapsing where the tube goes in I've zip tied a toothed ring of 1'' pvc at the entrance on the underside. You might not see that too good here. Sometimes when the sand goes in it collapses around the hole and clogs the uptube entrance.

This is a close up of the back of the canope.

I purchased a four in one 96 watt power compact retro fit fixture from ebay. I made a diy drip shield for the ballast to sit in out of acrylic.

The back of the stand is fiberboard with an eve vent. I painted it inside and out for water resistance.

The finished stand sitting next to a standard 10 gallon fish tank stand.

I wanted it to be tall enough for you to see it standing or sitting. Next one will be taller still I think.
