| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | I've read Bostik Titan Bond Plus works very well bonding acrylic and glass together. I need acrylic baffles in a glass sump and was thinking about using it. Has anyone ever tried it? BOSTIK TITAN BOND PLUS ![]()

| Elegance coral | Re: Bonding Acrylic to Glass i bought some sealant stuff to do the same thing, but havent used it yet. im worried it may not be safe for the aquarium. id also like a recommendation for doing this.

| Elegance coral | Re: Bonding Acrylic to Glass my intent was to use the acrylic baffles and basically use the sealent to hold them in place. they wont be bonded to the glass, but they wont move either...

I dunno... probably because I was hoping I could just drop it off and have someone else do it? But they only use acrylic there.... I do not have the 40 breeder yet to measure either.... .... I guess I could do that.... ![]()

| Cabbage Leather | Re: Bonding Acrylic to Glass LOL... no LFS do this work?? i have like 2 near me that will do this. plus i would just do it myself. lol masking tape down the side, bottom, and other side about and inch apart (4 peices- for 3 baffles 1.5" apart). lay the sump on its side or use something to hold up the middle baffle and slop away with silicone! pull the tape after a little while and you have tank style seals!! fun stuff.

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Bonding Acrylic to Glass You make it sound easy Pete... it is tempting.... I could earn a "built my own sump" badge How long does it take Home Depot to cut the glass? An hour, a day? What is the masking tape for?

| Cabbage Leather | Re: Bonding Acrylic to Glass usually cut it right there for you.... masking tape is cause i'm OCD and want a nice clean edge on the silicone (like in our tanks). works fine without it, just is all goopy looking. It's like using a ruler to draw a straight line.

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Bonding Acrylic to Glass ... pretty is good ![]() Thanks Pete... I might try it.... but first a few more questions ![]() Do you measure the glass exactly the width of the tank or maybe 1/16" of an inch less so it isn't a tight fit? Will Home Depot smooth the edges down for me too?

| Cabbage Leather | Re: Bonding Acrylic to Glass yes, pretty is good! it's a must. hehe I would do the 1/16" thing so some silicone can sit behind it against the glass. I never asked. Just use a block sander and some fine grit sandpaper if it has any sharp edge.
