concept skimmer design help

End result
1. capacity 20 to 250+_ gallons ?
2. fully adjustable riser
3. 0 flood factor
4. internal or external usage
5. small footprint
6. minimum height
7.?

1. multi spray jets-add or subtract per gallonage?
2. telescoping set up for foam height
3. can't happen lol
4. ?
5. 6'' plus pump
6. body plus collapsed riser and cup
7. cd player,webcam socket (j/k)

I have some stuff ready and will get the rest as needed.Pump, quite one 6000= 1500gph@o. head and 5.28psi. first task is to determine how many 1/4 dia. jets this will support so 1/4'' dia =0.049087 area. output end of pump will be 3/4'' and thats .44179 I think that means 16 jets free running ( help needed here) . once Ive got this number sort of confirmed we can move onto jet design and the blast chamber. Thanks all Steve

Re: concept skimmer design help

Steve, go talk to Weatherson over at CVReefers. He's the skimmer guru. Plomanto builds some nice skimmers too, and is usually willing to give advice. In fact, there's lots of acrylic DIY'ers in the club...just don't tell them I sent you...or they'll teach you how to build a toilet...

Re: concept skimmer design help

there are lots of DIY skimmer threads on RC..but you can blaze the way here!!
...I like the cd player/cam option...maybe a microphone so you can broadcast messages from the skimmer people for us mere mortals.
...hmmm, how about a teleportation device that can just zap out the skimmate.
Remember, we are still waiting on your aiptasia zapping device

Re: concept skimmer design help

Pic 1. 8''dia. collar,4''dia. riser, 8''dia.cap, 8''dia.injector manifold,8''dia. splash tray and 1 skimmerpeople union rep.
Pic 2. injectors, riser and tray assembly. plus rep.
Pic 3. assembled unit with water inlet and union rep. (they threatened a wildcat strike but the offer of really filthy water has appeased them)
Main body tomorrow, install sat if the little ones dont change anything, not sure if 12 jets is too much but they are threaded so can easily be removed. Steve
