Re: Getting ready to build stand w/ sump

I was drilling the side. It said the bottom was tempered. Heck, it could have been. Anyway I found a site called glasscages.com. They do shows across the country and have a full range of tanks. I can get a 90 gal Reef Ready tank for $225. Pick it up in Nashville. I have to go to Kentucky anyway to bring my son his stuff from his move, so it's a good excuse to get the tank I want.

Re: Getting ready to build stand w/ sump

Can't wait to see the finished product.
Sorry about the glass breaking. It can be really tricky. I think I held my breath the whole time my husband and a friend were drilling holes in my new sump and my new fuge and that was just 2 29g tanks. I would be terrified to drill the display. Fortunately it was already done when we bought it.

Re: Getting ready to build stand w/ sump

Just got my tank! WOW!! Good looking awesome tank. I'm impressed with Glass Cages. He's been building tanks for 20 years. Has a sizable operation and was building some large custom tanks when I was there. He also builds for other companies and puts their name on them. If you want a large tank, or customized one, get one from there. They do shows across the country, so you can intercept them on the way to a show. They travel thru Atlanta once a month, going to Florida, so I can always get it off their truck if I want another one.
Got my thumbs up. Now I have to wait for my next day off (Sunday) before I can begin settting it up. Gotta reinforce my stand, make sure nothing happens, knowing the way my luck has been lately.

Re: Getting ready to build stand w/ sump

Congrats on the new tank! Good luck getting it all set up and running. Post some pics of the process. They are always good. We can all learn from what you do on yours.

Re: Getting ready to build stand w/ sump

Getting the stand ready. Bought a 3/4" sande-ply for the top, the board I had has a slight bow in it, so I'll use it for another project. My wife wants me to build her a larger coffe table with it. Staining it w/ polyurethane. The fish are going to have to put up with one more move. Should be up and running by Wed.

Re: Getting ready to build stand w/ sump

It's alive!!!!!!!!! My 90 is rock and rolling!! Was up till 6 this morning working on it, slept for a few hours, and just finished getting it running. Now I get to go to work in an hour. Still have some adjustments to make, a trim board to install, and scape the rock, but it's running!!!!

Getting 90 gallons of water was a bugger! Wilkl post pics as soon as I have everything together next week.

Re: Getting ready to build stand w/ sump

The plumbing is working great. Set up a powerbox so the pump and the skimmer have there own switch. When I cut off the pump, no backflow, the Durso standpipe is quiet, One snafu, the powercords from the lights aren't long enought to reach the digital timer. I just fed them, and they're swimming around the rock. So far so good.

Re: Getting ready to build stand w/ sump

Pix! I'm not finished yet, but it's running. Not real happy with the sump. Wired seperate switches and outlets for the skimmer and the pump. Just a flick of the switch! Plumbing is working very well. Still have to hide the wires, trim it, and I want to build a small cabinet next to it for food, testing supplies, and other tools.
