Need sump help for 265 gallon

Hey all,, I am setting up a sump and refugium. I know questions about overflow and return pump rates have been posted hundreds of time.. But everytank is different. Im thinking of using the water trough method like billy98s set up.. I will look for a link on his set up..

Questions... Overflow rate??? my skimmer will be in the sump which has a mag12 pump and moves about 1200 gallons per hour,

Here is billys.. page down to the sump section..
http://reefsoftheworld.com/billyr98/...98gallery.html

Recommended overflows and pump returns would be greatly appreciated... Thanks again Billy for sharing your set up with me...

Thanks Snelly...

I would think about maybe going with a Reeflo Dart made by sequence... they can pump like 2800gph for 3 foot head distance... That would be 10x for you sump... I am sure you can go more, but I would just use powerheads for more turnover...

Re: Need sump help for 265 gallon

I'm a bit confused, I thought that high of a flow(10x turnover) was not recomended for going thru a sump?

Do you have powerheads in your tank for extra movement Billy?

Re: Need sump help for 265 gallon

I heartily recommend Jeff's LifeReef overflows. Hands down, the best you can buy. In my usage of them over the past 15+ years, I've never even heard of one failing to restart after a power outage or other cause.
