toothless?

I'm making an overflow for my new 37 oceanic cube. I've been looking into going toothless for aesthetics. How will this affect performance? pros - cons? thanks in advance!

Any way to have some kind of screen that could go up so that you do not have to have teeth? something you could DIY?

that gutter guard stuff u buy at harware stores should do the trick. black plastic grill type stuff that u place in your guttes to stop the leaves from falling in.
