| Midas Blenny | DIY Skimmer Adjustment Help I followed one of the DIY skimmer instructions on the Internet and built a skimmer that works great. My only problem is how to I properly adjust it? This is the first skimmer I have ever had, so I really don't know how the manufacturered skimmers are supposed to be adjusted. If I adjust the flow so where the wet bubbles are breaking at the lip of the pipe in the cup, I lose a ton of water over a period of time. It I have the wet bubble break 4 or 5 inches below the lip of the pipe I get very few random dry bubbles that make it to the top. I'm guessing the answer lies within the middle, but I don't know what is supposed to be the appropriate setting. What am I supposed to see? I have a ball valve controlling the outflow, but I've found that this is not the right tool for adjusting a skimmer. It works, but I can't make small changes with it. I'm going out now to get a gate valve. Another problem is that I can get it where I have nice dry bubble building on the lip of the pipe, but it changes. Either I will all of a sudden will get nothing or I will get a overflow filling up my drain container with fresh water. Anyone have any insight that can help. It would be appreciated. |
