Who's currently growing frags?

I mean I know any healthy coral grows... just wondering how many of us are making a concerted effort at coral propagation.

Pics of your prop tank would be nice too.

Re: Who's currently growing frags?

I have been fragging on a small scale for a while now. I mostly trade them at local meetings or sell them at the LFS. I just finally set up my frag tanks last week. I keep zo’s, shrooms, leathers, and all less light needing frags here. The SPS and LSP frags are still in the main tank.
Here is the frag tank just after setting it up. I have additional lights to add when I expand into the middle and top tanks.

Re: Who's currently growing frags?

I have a 80g glass prop, 2'x4' (60g) prop, and newly added 120g all for the love of propagation and conservation. I grow everything from xenia to micromussa and I love it. I just wish I had more room.

Sharks, that looks like a very cool setup. Did I miss that one in "Reef Chronicles" forum?

Re: Who's currently growing frags?

WOW thanks gang.
The tanks came from www.glasscages.com they are 2 ½-29G tanks 1 ½-15.
Here is the price list. http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=2
They are located close so shipping was cheap and since they are so shallow I can us PC lighting to keep the softies colored nicely. A simple sump and gravity feed one tank to the other down to the sump. This is how we set up the tanks in the LFS.
If only I had the time to post all the details and info on the fish room.
I finally completed the in-wall tank and moved all the livestock last weekend.
When I get some time off I will start a thread in the chronicles forum.
Keep fragging

^EDIT^
Oh and the tanks are acrylic

Re: Who's currently growing frags?

I have moved my reef upstairs so i can enjoy, but plan on using a couple rubbermaid tubs for coral grow out, rock and sand bed in one 100gallon and a 50 gallon on top for frags, plan on using skimmer and pump for water flow and a 400 watt pendant for lighting,,, may be a bit before setup tho, so for now, this is all i have:

Re: Who's currently growing frags?

I have some extra glass left over from some older projects, and I'm thinking of making some frag tanks out of them that would be 2' x 2' x 0.5'H. That would be 15g each. They'd be made out of 1/4'' plate glass and have one hole drilled in the bottom for an overflow. I have enough glass to make 4 tanks that size.

Just a thought, but if I do do that, I would probably be setting up a SW display tank too, which I'm leaning towards a 90g at the moment...I am currently working at a pet store, and in January we should be renovating the fish room where we plan on adding SW livestock! Which means that there would be SW equipment and lighting, which would mean that I would get some really good deals on the equipment and lighting

Well, I don't want to go taking this thread over, so I'll stop now.

That's a really nice fishroom that you have sharks! Awesome setup!

Re: Who's currently growing frags?

I've been propagating on a small scale for a while now. I've been using a spare 125g tank as well as a shallow acrylic "frag" tank for the past year or so. Now I'm in the middle of constructing an SPS growout system that will be around 275-300g. The main frag tank is 96" x 48" x 13". Eventually I'll have some pics up...been too busy working lately.
