| Bryozoan | I have a 33 long that has some amazing corals in it (atleast I think they are amazing) I have a frogspawn, a flowerpot, lots of different zoos, a rock about a foot long and 6 inches wide covered in green star polyp, 3 frags of a tree polyp and some other corals here and there. I am wanting to set up a frag tank because no one in louisville frags off corals and I have had lots of people wanting what is in my tank. I know you can feed the corals a suppliment to get them to grow faster but I can't remember the name. I have also heard if you drop a vitimen c tablet in the water it will make the corals grow. What all do i need in the tank? I have a 20 long I can set up as soon as I clean it out and let it sit. Thanks for the advice. |

| Torch coral | Re: Wanting to set up a frag tank. Help please Do not just drop a vitamin c tab in ur tank!! There are some threads on other sites about that and you want to do a lot of research before dropping stuff in ur tank. I would say leave well enough alone, some corals grow slow and some fast. Patience is a virtue especially in this hobby. The only thing that happens quickly in our tanks is usually bad. |

| Serpent Star | Re: Wanting to set up a frag tank. Help please It takes a year of fragging and growing before a frag tank becomes productive. Corals just take time to grow.

| Tunicate | Re: Wanting to set up a frag tank. Help please Like everyone else said just wait if it was so easy to grow corals quickly they would be a lot cheaper than they are now :P but if you want good healthy growth I would suggest feeding your corals dosing tank w/ calcium and alk to balance it out. THrow in reefsnow I use that stuff really works well. |

| Manta Ray | Re: Wanting to set up a frag tank. Help please IMO mall and often waterchanges are the secret to optimum growth. I also think the best frag tank is your display tank. Just have your friends come, pick out what they want, just frag it right there and then. |

| Serpent Star | Re: Wanting to set up a frag tank. Help please Give it time. You'll be waving the white flag soon "How in the heck do I make these things STOP growing?" My frag tank was bulging at the seams last week. I was about to start yanking rocks out of the tank to make more room. Then Sunday some guy came over and bought over $300 worth of frags and cleaned me out. Perfect timing though, because the display is painfully overgrown again.

| Bryozoan | Re: Wanting to set up a frag tank. Help please Hi,I'm looking to set up a frag tank and wondering I could get some help. I'm new to the whole reefing hobby, but do have SW experience (seahorses) There's not a whole lot of help that i can get locally, so i'm begging for help from all of you. looking for water specs, temp. recommended filteration/lighting, recomended brands or specific products. I have a 30g Long (31"x19") that I would like to use as a frag tank. I have a canister filter and chiller and was planning to setup a bucket filter as well. I was planning to go bare bottom, if substrate is really needed i could put it in the bucket. any help would be most welcomed! |

| Tunicate | Re: Wanting to set up a frag tank. Help please be careful adding things you cannot readily test for i.e. vit c, im sure that it could benefit our corals as it does us as biological organisms but you never know if your over dosing. I found that as stated some corals grow extremely fast and others slow, and PATIENCE IS KEY, im constantly having to remind myself of this myself... all the while hoping and praying for a maxed out tank one day ! lol |
